Conditions treated include:
- Back and neck pain
- Chronic pain
- Sports injuries
- Work related injuries
- Cervicogenic headache
- Joint pain
- Neurological conditions such as Stroke, Parkinsons and Functional Neurological Disorder (one point)
- Assessment and treatment of paediatric conditions
Prior to treatment a full subjective and objective assessment is carried out to determine the nature of the condition. The initial assessment may be used to differentiate pain that is a peripheral problem from pain referred from the spine.
Once the condition is classified the appropriate exercises and advice can be given to suit each patient. The aim of treatment is to promote recovery, restore function and prevent recurrence. This is usually done by correcting or reversing underlying mechanical faults such as poor posture or faulty movement patterns. This will provide lasting relief rather than just treating symptoms.
If after assessment and reassessment the symptoms are considered to be unsuited to mechanical therapy, advice regarding further management, or other options, will be given and discussed.
Treatment is based on active patient involvement and education.
