Back and neck pain is a common occurrence in the general population. The McKenzie method is the most researched and widely used method of assessing and treating low back and neck pain. Assessments when performed by a McKenzie Credentialed therapist, are comprehensive and accurate, enabling us to reach a diagnosis which will direct treatment. Assessment consists of a thorough subjective history and objective findings.
The McKenzie method is based on active patient involvement. This includes education and advice regarding the underlying condition and an appropriate exercise programme. The assessment findings will indicate whether pain is mechanical. If so, appropriate exercises and management strategies can be applied. In some cases the assessment directs us to the presence of other non-mechanical conditions such as chronic pain or underlying inflammatory disorder.
